Leading up to the opening of the Fehmarn connection in 2029, an international art destination, Art Barns Lolland, will be created.

The idea is to use unique cultural inheritance buildings on Lolland and Falster- warehouses, factories and barns - as exhibition spaces for world art.

We are in full swing with this exciting work, and we have been met with support from all sides - not least the municipalities, which have ensured solid progress by supporting Art Barns Lolland from its very beginning. At the same time, we are far from finishing the exploration of possibilities on both Lolland and Falster, and we would like to talk with even more of the many local enthusiasts, associations and budding projects about future collaborations. Together, we can create a journey full of experiences that highlight Lolland-Falster's many qualities - and we can also achieve it before the Fehmarnbelt connection opens in 2029 and connects the islands with the rest of Europe," says Christoffer Hauglund Faurschou, director of Art Barns Lolland foundation.

Five exhibition venues to open

Art Barns Lolland has so far inspected 25 buildings on Lolland-Falster, and the first five exhibition venues are scheduled to open in 2024 at Fuglsang Herregård, Søllestedgaard Gods, Vennerslund Gods, Reventlowparken and Bønnelyckes Pakhus in Nysted.

Art Barns Lolland does not want to disclose which artists and works of art will be exhibited before the necessary funding is in place. However, in a press release, Art Barns Lolland has stated that they are in dialogue with a number of leading international contemporary artists and that agreements with artists whose works are scheduled to move to Lolland-Falster have made, amongst the first.

The first five artists represent five different continents.
