Give Steel A/S will be delivering the steel structures for the new tunnel element factory, where the concrete elements for the Femern connection will be produced.
The order includes well over 8000 tons of steel construction consisting of more than 20,000 steel rafters, columns and beams.
The consortia Femern Link Contractors (FLC), which is responsible for the design and construction of the immersed tunnel on the Femern Belt project, has placed the order for the Danish-produced steel structures at Give Steel A/S.
The turn-key contract includes subcontractor tasks such as facade cladding, roof, etc. All subcontracting agreements are well advanced and in process.
Creates Danish jobs
"All steel structures for the project in Rødby will be produced in Brande, and I am pleased that with the Femern project we can preserve and create jobs in Denmark. The Femern connection is such a large construction project that it should benefit Denmark. In relation to apprenticeships, we have entered into an agreement with Lolland Municipality to create apprenticeships for particularly vulnerable young people from Lolland here at the factory in Brande. We as a company, have good experiences of giving young people on the edge of the labour market, a chance for an education - "Thus, with the order, we also have the opportunity to make a social fingerprint, which is a clear goal in our CSR strategy," says CEO of Give Steel A / S, Torben Larsen.
