The Fehmarn project and its related development and investment opportunities were significantly represented at the international investment fair, Expo Real ´22, which took place from the 4th to the 6th October in Munich.

Business Hub Zealand, Business Lolland-Falster and Femern Belt Development collaborated with the German business organization HanseBelt e.v. on Schleswig-Holstein's stand at the fair, with a focus on employment and investment opportunities in the future Fehmarn belt region.

"It is extremely important to take advantage of the interest and momentum that is currently surrounding Europe's largest construction project. The Fehmarn project is well known among investors from far and wide, and interest in investments is growing," says Managing Director Stig Rømer Winther, Femern Belt Development.

Great interest in establishment on Lolland-Falster

The interest among international investors is confirmed by director of Business LF, Mikkel Wesselhoff:

"There is increasing interest from the German side in the Fehmarn Belt project. At Expo Real we gained both valuable contacts and collaboration opportunities, and we experienced a lot of concrete interest from companies considering establishing themselves on Lolland-Falster," says Mikkel Wesselhoff.

Valuable Danish-German cooperation

FBD Director Stig Rømer Winther and Bernd Jorkisch, HanseBelt e.v. gave a joint briefing on the status of the Fehmarn project and on future development and investment opportunities in the wake of the project to around 50 investors from the Schleswig-Holstein's stand.

"It is our joint intention to draw the attention of the German politicians to see the development opportunities and pave the way for business areas along the motorway in the northern German area, similar to what we already see in Denmark. In this way we will be able to promote the new region together and work in parallel with business development on both sides of the Fehmarn Belt. In terms of settlement, there is also an advantage in a cross-border Danish-German collaboration that will be able to attract labour from the big cities," says Stig Rømer Winther, Femern Belt Development.

Working on a common stand

Femern Belt Development is already now working together with Business Hub Zealand and Business LF to secure a common stand at Expo Real ´23 in Munich in collaboration with German partners.
